Saweetie is expanding her acting resume with a role in the second season of Netflix’s teen drama “Bet,” joining the cast as production gets underway in Toronto. The series, created by Simon Barry and inspired by the Japanese manga “Kakegurui,” stars Miku Martineau as Yumeko, a mysterious transfer student whose gambling skills disrupt the power structure at the elite St. Dominic’s boarding school.
Based on the manga by Homura Kawamoto and Tōru Naomura, the series follows Yumeko’s pursuit of revenge while navigating a school hierarchy governed by high-stakes wagering. Production is scheduled to continue through the summer in Canada, with a release expected in 2027.
The addition of Saweetie marks the latest move by the Grammy-nominated artist into film and television following previous appearances in projects including “BMF” and “Bel-Air.” Netflix confirmed the casting news this week as cameras began rolling on the new 10-episode season. Saweetie said in a statement, “There’s a psychological edge to the world of Bet that immediately brought me in and the character instantly called to me.” Details about her role have not been disclosed. Martineau and much of the original ensemble are returning for the sophomore season.
“Bet” earned a renewal in 2025 after spending several weeks among Netflix’s global Top 10 English-language series. Barry, who also serves as director and showrunner, previously said, “I’m extremely happy for our amazing Bet fans from all over the world, who get to enjoy another season, and for this incredible cast and crew to return to St. Dominic’s for more gambling and general madness.”
