Prime Video has revealed the teaser trailer for “Blade Runner 2099,” the upcoming live-action continuation of the acclaimed science-fiction franchise, while announcing that the series will premiere Nov. 25, 2026.
The eight-episode limited series is set 50 years after the events of “Blade Runner 2049” and expands the franchise’s futuristic world with a new story centered on shifting power between humans and replicants. The series follows Cora, played by Schafer, a fugitive who takes on the identity of a Blade Runner, and Olwen, portrayed by Yeoh, a replicant facing the end of her life. Together, the pair pursue a runaway replicant whose secrets could threaten the stability of their society.
The teaser offers a glimpse of a transformed Los Angeles, where the aftermath of a replicant uprising has reshaped civilization. The new installment explores a future in which replicants have gained control while humans have been pushed into a more vulnerable position, continuing the franchise’s long-running themes of identity, humanity and artificial life.
“Blade Runner 2099” comes from showrunner and executive producer Silka Luisa, with original “Blade Runner” director Ridley Scott among the executive producers. The series also features Dimitri Abold and Lewis Gribben, with additional appearances from Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke and Maurizio Lombardi.
The series continues the legacy of the franchise inspired by Philip K. Dick’s novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” following Ridley Scott’s 1982 film and Denis Villeneuve’s 2017 sequel “Blade Runner 2049.” All eight episodes of “Blade Runner 2099” will be released on Prime Video on Nov. 25, 2026.
