Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson released the official music video for “Blue Moon”, continuing the rollout of her fifth studio album, “Midnight Sun.”
The track is the fourth single from the 2025 album and one Larsson has personally championed, despite not yet reaching the commercial success of some of her other releases. ‘Blue Moon‘ combines electropop with influences from New Jersey drill, with production by Margo XS, MNEK and Zhone.
Larsson has described “Blue Moon” as a companion to the album’s title track, emphasizing her personal connection to the song and her desire to give it a visual release. In an Instagram post marking the premiere of the video, Larsson wrote, “Blue Moon is one of my favorite songs, midnight suns sister, and she deserves love and care poured into her.” She also encouraged fans to embrace the release, underscoring her enthusiasm for a track she believes deserves greater attention.
Directed by Charlotte Rutherford, the video for ‘Blue Moon’ blends choreography, colorful imagery and fantasy-inspired transformations. Larsson moves through nighttime settings, including a motel parking lot, a bus station and a deserted street, before appearing as a fairy and a mermaid. The visual also features whimsical animated elements, and a playful nod to a 2008 Beyoncé advertisement.
The video extends Larsson’s “Midnight Sun” era, as she continues her international tour, which is scheduled to conclude Nov. 1 in Bangkok.
