Tate McRae has returned with “Housewife,” a new single and accompanying music video released ahead of her forthcoming fourth studio album. The release of ‘Housewife‘ marks the Canadian pop singer’s first new music in 2026 and follows the success of her 2025 album, So Close to What, which featured the singles “It’s OK I’m OK,” “2 Hands,” “Sports Car” and “Revolving Door.”

‘Housewife’ explores themes of independence, ambition, relationships and the expectations placed on women. In an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, McRae described the track as being about “a woman who can’t be contained.” She also revealed that she had planted an early clue about the release during her August performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago, where the title appeared at the beginning of her set.

Directed by Pierre-Ange Carlotti, the “Housewife” video was filmed in the south of France and features McRae in luxurious settings, including a mansion and a yacht. The cinematic production combines choreography and playful imagery with scenes that contrast an extravagant lifestyle with the more complicated emotions behind it. Sergio Reis, whose credits include work with Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Troye Sivan and Charli XCX, handled the choreography.
