Taylor Swift is releasing a new single, “Patient Zero,” this Friday, Sept. 25, marking her latest new music following a period of speculation fueled by a series of clues across her social media and website.
Swift announced the song Tuesday, writing on Instagram, “I’ve been impatiently waiting to tell you that my brand new single ‘Patient Zero’ will be out on September 25 (!!!!!!!!!!!!) and it’s available to pre-order now on my website for 24 hours.” The announcement followed a countdown on her website and several references to the number zero, including a change to her Instagram bio that read, “And, baby, that’s sh0w business f0r y0u.”
Swift is also offering three collector’s-edition CD versions of the song through her website: the standard recording, an acoustic version and a piano version. The editions feature double-sided covers, while Billboard noted the physical releases are part of a limited preorder period. Preorder: HERE.
“Patient Zero” follows “I Knew It, I Knew You,” Swift’s contribution to the “Toy Story 5” soundtrack released in June. The new single also arrives just days before Swift is scheduled to receive the inaugural Artist Director Honors at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 27, recognizing her work in music-video direction and visual storytelling.
