BLACKPINK’s Lisa has opened the next chapter of her solo career with “SaWaDiKa,” a rap-driven single which serves as the first preview of her upcoming EP, “Press Play.” Scheduled for release Oct. 23, ‘Press Play’ is the follow-up to Lisa’s 2025 debut solo album, “Alter Ego.”
The song takes its title from “sawatdee ka,” a traditional Thai greeting meaning “hello,” putting Lisa’s heritage at the center of the new era. The track leans heavily into hip-hop and rap, a side of Lisa’s artistry that has been prominent throughout her solo work. Its accompanying music video was filmed in Bangkok and incorporates Thai cultural imagery, including Muay Thai-inspired elements and tuk-tuks.
Lisa had been building anticipation for the release through a “Hello Sawadika” campaign, with promotional materials featuring the word “hello” in multiple languages and billboards appearing around Bangkok. The campaign and visual rollout have emphasized the connection between her international career and her Thai roots.
“Press Play” is described as a more personal project reflecting Lisa’s journey from Thailand to global stardom. The EP is expected to contain six tracks, with “SaWaDiKa” serving as its lead release. Lisa is also preparing for her first solo Las Vegas residency, “VIVA LA LISA,” at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Nov. 13, 14, 27 and 28.
The busy fall schedule extends beyond music. Lisa’s documentary, “Always Lalisa,” is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before receiving a worldwide theatrical release Oct. 12.
