Alex Warren has released the official video for “Emerald Eyes,” the focus track from his newly released sophomore album, “WILDCHILD.” The video arrives alongside the 13-track album, released Friday through Atlantic Records, and puts a spotlight on a song Warren describes as an energetic love song designed to make listeners dance.
“Emerald Eyes” blends pop and disco influences, with piano, a driving rhythm section, handclaps and a funk-inspired guitar part contributed by Nile Rodgers. Warren co-wrote the track with Adam Yaron, Cal Shapiro and Mags Duval, with Yaron also handling production. The song centers on the overwhelming attraction Warren feels toward someone whose green eyes leave him unable to resist falling deeper into the relationship.
The release also introduces the broader themes of “WILDCHILD,” which Warren has described as a more personal project shaped by memories of his parents and loss. The album’s title comes from a nickname given to Warren by his late father, who called him “wildchild” because of his adventurous nature growing up. Warren said his father, knowing he was dying, recorded a series of videos speaking to his son, material that influenced the singer while creating the album.
“WILDCHILD” also features a guest appearance from John Mayer on the title track, while previously released songs including “FEVER DREAM,” “FINE PLACE TO DIE,” “PASSENGER” and “RESCUER” helped introduce the project ahead of its release. Warren is also currently continuing his world arena tour, with Australian dates coinciding with the album’s arrival.
