Disney has released the final trailer for its live-action adaptation of “Moana,” offering audiences a closer look at the reimagining of the 2016 animated hit ahead of its July 10 theatrical debut.

The preview highlights newcomer Catherine Lagaʻaia in the title role and features Dwayne Johnson returning as the demigod Maui, making him one of the few actors to reprise an animated Disney role in a live-action remake. The trailer is set to Maui’s signature number, “You’re Welcome,” and includes glimpses of “We Know the Way,” along with expanded action sequences and visual effects. The cast also includes John Tui as Chief Tui, Frankie Adams as Sina and Rena Owen as Gramma Tala.

Directed by Tony Award winner Thomas Kail, the film follows Moana as she leaves her island home of Motunui and journeys beyond the reef alongside Maui in an effort to restore prosperity to her people. The footage showcases returning fan favorites including Pua and Heihei, encounters with the Kakamora and the fiery Te Kā, and the return of the giant crab Tamatoa, voiced once again by Jemaine Clement.

Original “Moana” star Auliʻi Cravalho serves as an executive producer, while Lin-Manuel Miranda, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn and Hiram Garcia are among the producers. The film features songs by Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina, who also composed the score. Writers Dana Ledoux Miller and Jared Bush, a co-writer of the original film, adapted the screenplay, with the filmmakers emphasizing the importance of celebrating Pacific Island culture and heritage throughout the project.
