Family Guy is expanding its universe with an animated spinoff titled “Stewie,” which has received a two-season order from Fox Broadcasting Company and Hulu. The show is expected to debut during the 2027–2028 broadcast season, with episodes streaming the day after airing and also available internationally on Disney+.

Created by Seth MacFarlane and longtime collaborator Kirker Butler, the animated comedy will spotlight the Griffin family’s famously mischievous toddler, Stewie. MacFarlane will once again provide the character’s voice while serving as executive producer; while Butler will act as showrunner and executive producer alongside Kara Vallow.

The storyline follows Stewie after he’s expelled from his previous preschool and forced to attend a far less impressive replacement. The new class includes unfamiliar classmates and an eccentric 75-year-old classroom turtle known for having a peculiar theory about nearly everything. At first, everyone at the school — including Stewie — is miserable. That changes once Stewie begins using his collection of bizarre inventions to transport the group through time and across the universe, transforming dull school days into wildly unpredictable adventures.

“Stewie” will join Fox’s established lineup of long-running animated hits, including American Dad!, The Simpsons, and Bob’s Burgers. Those series — along with Family Guy — previously secured four-season renewals as part of a major deal extending their runs through 2029.

MacFarlane reacted to the news with his trademark dry humor: “I’d like to thank Fox for this incredible opportunity, and I’m excited to start pretending I’m collaborating closely with them on the show.”

Butler also shared a statement reflecting both gratitude and playful sarcasm: “I am honored and humbled that Seth, 20th Television Animation and Fox have trusted me with one of the most iconic animated characters in the history of television. I have known Seth for more than two decades, worked with him on half a dozen projects, and I am hopeful this is the one where he finally learns my name.”
