Taylor Swift is extending the life of her latest album with “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore,” an expanded edition featuring four new songs. The project arrives nearly a year after the original album arrived in October 2025.
The 16-track edition adds “Patient Zero,” “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon” to the original 12-song album. Swift said the new material came from a trip to Sweden with collaborators Max Martin and Shellback, who worked with her on “The Life of a Showgirl.” The trip was initially intended as an opportunity to celebrate the album’s success and reflect on its reception, but the group returned to the studio and wrote four additional songs.
“The Life of a Showgirl” opened with what Swift described as the biggest first week for an album in history, making the new material an extension of a record-breaking release rather than a separate studio album. The original project included singles such as “The Fate of Ophelia,” “Opalite” and “Elizabeth Taylor,” along with a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter on the title track.
Swift also announced that the video for “Patient Zero” will premiere at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday, where the singer will be awarded with the first-ever Artist Director Honors at the event (where she is also nominated for 13 awards.). The preview for the ‘Patient Zero’ video shared to Instagram shows Swift starring alongside actors Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson, with the visual featuring the work of Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki.
