Shawn Mendes will celebrate the 10th anniversary of his 2016 album Illuminate with a new anniversary edition arriving Sept. 25 through UMG.
Originally released Sept. 23, 2016, Illuminate became Mendes’ second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 and included “Treat You Better,” “Mercy” and “Ruin.” “Treat You Better” has since earned seven-times-platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America, while Illuminate has been certified double platinum.
The expanded release will include previously unreleased material and three new live recordings of “Treat You Better,” “Ruin” and “Mercy,” recorded in New York, Boston and Montreal, respectively. The digital edition will also contain a previously unannounced bonus track. The anniversary project follows a year of releases commemorating the Illuminate era, including a limited-edition 7-inch of “Treat You Better” and its previously unreleased “Treat You Better (Live From New York)” performance, released in June.
A separate limited-edition vinyl release, created with Blood Records, will feature an exclusive 2016 demo of “She’ll Be The One.” The physical package is set for Dec. 18 and will include a blue liquid-filled LP, a liquid-splatter disc and a turquoise-and-black swirl disc in a reflective sleeve, according to Blood Records.
