Lewis Pullman has signed on to star opposite Julia Garner in Apple TV+’s upcoming thriller series Guilty Creatures, expanding the cast of the true-crime drama adapted from Mikita Brottman’s book Guilty Creatures: Sex, God, and Murder in Tallahassee, Florida. The casting marks Pullman’s return to Apple TV+ following his acclaimed performance in Lessons in Chemistry, while reuniting the actor with the streaming platform for his first television role since that Emmy-nominated project.

The series centers on “two young, adulterous but God-fearing lovers” whose passionate relationship leads to murder, exploring how the crime shapes their lives over the next 18 years. Set against the backdrop of Florida’s Panhandle, the psychological thriller examines the emotional consequences of living with the aftermath of a killing while weaving together themes of faith, obsession and deception. Garner, whose casting was announced earlier this month, will also serve as an executive producer on the project.

Sarah DeLappe adapted the screenplay from Brottman’s nonfiction book, with Craig Gillespie attached to direct and executive produce. Stuart Zicherman will oversee the series as showrunner and executive producer. The project is being produced by Tomorrow Studios for Apple TV+, adding another prestige thriller to the streamer’s growing original programming slate.

Apple TV+ has not yet announced additional casting beyond the two leads or revealed a premiere date for the series.
