Bruce Springsteen is headlining the 20th anniversary edition of Stand Up for Heroes on Nov. 9 at David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York, organizers announced. The annual benefit, which supports injured veterans, military families and caregivers, will also feature singer Alex Warren and The Resilient, a band made up of wounded U.S. combat veterans. The comedy lineup includes Jon Stewart, Hasan Minhaj and Josh Johnson of “The Daily Show.”

The milestone event is being presented by the Bob Woodruff Foundation and the New York Comedy Festival as part of the festival’s Nov. 6-15 run. Stand Up for Heroes began in 2007 after ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff was seriously injured while reporting from Iraq the previous year. Woodruff and his wife, Lee, later partnered with New York Comedy Festival founders Caroline Hirsch and Andrew Fox to establish the event as a showcase combining comedy, music and stories of military service. Woodruff said the event has grown well beyond its original ambitions, recalling, “When we started this way back in 2007 we thought it would just be a one-time concert. But it’s become one of the most meaningful nights of the year.”

The foundation says Stand Up for Heroes has generated more than $113 million to date, while reports on this year’s announcement put the total at $117 million. The event has become a regular gathering place for prominent entertainers, with past participants including Stephen Colbert, Jerry Seinfeld, John Oliver, John Mulaney, Ricky Gervais, Jim Gaffigan and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
