Ariana Grande has launched her next musical chapter with the release of “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” the lead single from her forthcoming eighth studio album, Petal, due July 31.

The track was co-written and co-produced by Grande alongside longtime collaborators Max Martin and Ilya Salmanzadeh. Grande has spoken enthusiastically about the song since announcing it earlier this month, calling it “One of my favorite songs I’ll ever write.”

Hate That I Made You Love Me arrived with a comic-book-inspired lyric video, as well as the official music video featuring actor Justin Long starring as a homicidal partner tormented by the Grande’s spirit. The cinematic short, directed by Christian Breslauer and filmed by Oscar-winning cinematographer Janusz Kamiński, begins with Long burying Grande inside an underground bunker packed with composition notebooks detailing her “insecurities.” As Long flees the scene and attempts to eradicate any traces of their romance, Grande returns as a ghost to aggressively stalk him.

Petal marks Grande’s most significant new music since 2024’s Eternal Sunshine, and follows a period in which she devoted much of her attention to acting projects, including her role as Glinda in the Wicked films and the upcoming comedy Focker-in-Law.

In addition, Grande is gearing up for the launch her first major tour in seven years. The North American leg of the ‘Eternal Sunshine’ stadium run is scheduled to launch on June 6 in Oakland, California, and conclude on August 5 in Chicago.  For ticket info head HERE.
