Olivia Rodrigo will be the subject of a new exhibition at the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles, where fans will be able to explore the handmade sets, props and artwork created for her “the cure” music video. “Olivia Rodrigo: the cure unraveled,” presented by American Express, opens Sept. 2 and will remain on view through Feb. 22, 2027.
“I grew up going to the Grammy Museum and their mission is especially important to me, so it’s a full circle moment to be able to work with them on this exhibit. It’s the perfect place to feature ‘the cure’ music video pieces that mean so much to me, as well as some incredibly special items from the past decade that we’re later adding that I’ve never shown before. I can’t wait for you all to see them in person!” Rodrigo said.
“Olivia Rodrigo: the cure unraveled” will begin with a special program featuring Rodrigo at the museum on Sept. 1, one day before the public opening. Filmmaker and author Cameron Crowe will moderate a conversation with the singer, which will also include a live performance and an opportunity for attendees to preview the exhibition.
The “the cure” video was built around an entirely handmade hospital and uses miniatures, animatronic heart puppets and stop-motion animation. Directed by Cat Solen and Jaime Gerin, the project features production design by Liam Moore, who transformed the sets and props with cardboard and hand-painted details. The exhibition will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the visual production, including Rodrigo’s nurse costume, a miniature operating room, a beating felt heart, original storyboards and photographs from the shoot. Handwritten and hand-stitched pieces used for the artwork and packaging of her album “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love” will also be displayed, along with interactive photo opportunities.
