Charlie Puth brought a revamped, jazz-inspired sound to the intimate surroundings of NPR’s headquarters for his Tiny Desk concert. The singer-songwriter stepped into the famed performance space with fresh interpretations of his chart-topping hits, including the 2015 song “See You Again” with Wiz Khalifa, his 2016 hit “We Don’t Talk Anymore” featuring Selena Gomez, the 2017 single “Attention” and the 2025 song “Changes” – stripping back polished studio production to highlight core instrumentation and acoustic warmth.
Covering the performance for NPR Music, reviewer Ashley Pointer noted that Puth approached the set “less like a hitmaker and more like a bandleader”. The performance injected new energy into several signature tracks from his decade-long career, leaning into sophisticated chord voicings and soul-influenced rhythms alongside a live ensemble.
Known for his precise ear for harmonies and perfect pitch, Puth used the scaled-down setup to demonstrate his foundational musical background. Rather than replicating his radio-ready arrangements note-for-note, he re-engineered his back catalog through a jazz lens, guiding his fellow musicians through improvised solos and restructured grooves.
