Selma Blair was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and released on bail Monday following an incident involving alleged assaults aboard a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York and subsequent encounters with law enforcement and medical personnel. The 54-year-old actor was taken into custody late Sunday after the plane arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport, according to authorities.

According to court documents cited by multiple outlets, Blair allegedly kicked a Port Authority police officer repeatedly while being restrained during transport to a hospital, causing pain and swelling. She is also accused of kicking a nurse in the chest while receiving medical care at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. The allegations involving the officer and nurse led to the two state felony charges in Queens Criminal Court.

A judge set bail at $20,000 cash or $60,000 bond, and Blair was released following her arraignment. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 19, 2027. Separately, the FBI issued a summons related to alleged assaults aboard the aircraft, with that matter expected to be handled in federal court in Brooklyn, according to reports.

The incident began during Delta Flight 938 on Sunday night, when two flight attendants reportedly sustained injuries, including a bite wound and a laceration. One crew member was taken to a hospital for treatment. A representative for Blair attributed the incident to a medical emergency, saying, “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.” The FBI is investigating the incident. Delta also addressed the situation, stating, “Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first.”

Blair, known for her roles in Cruel Intentions, Legally Blonde and Hellboy, publicly revealed in 2018 that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She previously made headlines in 2016 after experiencing a medical emergency during a flight from Mexico to Los Angeles. At the time, she said mixing alcohol with medication caused her to black out. Authorities have not publicly detailed the cause of the latest incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
