Federal law enforcement authorities executed a search warrant Tuesday morning at a Beverly Hills residence associated with former California Rep. Eric Swalwell. Sources familiar with the ongoing probe confirmed that the property belongs to prominent developer and political contributor Stephen Cloobeck. The raid marks the latest development in a multi-jurisdictional investigation surrounding the former lawmaker, who stepped down from Congress earlier this year following public misconduct allegations. No criminal charges have been filed against Swalwell in connection with the searches as of press time.
FBI personnel carried out the operation early in the day, though government representatives declined to elaborate on specific items recovered from the location. Addressing the activity outside the residence, FBI spokesperson Lourdes Arocho stated, “We are executing a search warrant,” while adding that “Court documents are sealed. No arrests are planned.” Bureau officials have provided no additional updates regarding the scope of the evidence gathered during the morning search.
The property owner previously distanced himself from the former representative after allegations were reported publicly. Speaking on his decision to cut ties earlier this year, Cloobeck told reporters, “I am no longer associated with a man that takes advantage of women,” adding, “I support women’s rights.” Records indicate Swalwell had previously spent time at the Southern California property prior to his resignation from public office.
This latest action follows previous law enforcement measures conducted during the ongoing federal inquiry. In August, federal agents seized electronic devices belonging to Swalwell at San Francisco International Airport before conducting a court-authorized search of his Washington, D.C., residence the following day. Local authorities, including the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, have also launched independent inquiries into related allegations.
