South African singer Tyla has announced the That Girl Music Scholarship, an initiative designed to help young women pursue degrees in music and the arts. Developed in partnership with Sony Music and the Institute of International Education (IIE), the program will award $5,000 each to 10 students who demonstrate financial need and academic achievement.

Named after a track on Tyla’s second studio album, APOP*, the scholarship will support students attending eligible colleges and universities near selected stops on her A*POP World Tour. Six recipients will be selected from U.S. markets — New York City, Washington, D.C., Tampa, Atlanta, Houston and Los Angeles — with four additional awards designated for students in South Africa. Historically Black colleges and universities will receive priority consideration.

Recipients will receive financial assistance toward tuition and required fees, along with two tickets to a Tyla concert and an opportunity to meet the Grammy-winning artist. The initiative aims to help aspiring musicians overcome financial barriers while pursuing their education and professional goals.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and meet the program’s enrollment, academic and location requirements. U.S. applicants must be full-time undergraduate students in music- or arts-related programs during the 2026-27 academic year and provide financial aid information. Applications are due by Oct. 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time, or earlier if 50 eligible applications are received.
